How to Share IG Reels Even When Your Clients Don't Have a Videographer

Did you know that since the launch of IG Reels, engagement on regular, in-feed posts has dropped by 44%?! 🤯The urgency to incorporate IG Reels into your content strategy is REAL, but if you’re anything like us, you’ve likely felt frustration navigating this new feature for clients that don’t have a videographer.

If you ask yourself why some clients haven’t worked with a videographer in the past, the answer is likely as simple as this: they haven’t had a reason to! Take some time to connect with your client and explain to them how the digital space is evolving.

While photos remain essential, social media algorithms and data continue to prove that video is vital to the future of social, and this will likely expand to other areas of the web too. Online clothing boutique, Princess Polly, for example, already showcases its pieces in action through video on both Instagram and its website’s individual product pages. Let clients know that, when thinking long-term, one of the best investments they could make is hiring both a photographer AND videographer for future shoots.

If your client still has hesitations about hiring a videographer, don’t jump ship! Read on to discover how we’ve optimized our clients’ content strategies accordingly.

UPDATE YOUR DELIVERABLES

For clients that are unable to provide us with video content, we’ve tweaked our deliverables slightly to allow our team the bandwidth to create some for them. For instance, if you’re contracted to create 5 IG feed posts and 5 IG stories per week, consider reducing the number to 4 IG stories and 4 feed posts per week with one of those 4 feed posts being an IG Reel. Essentially, you’re using the same time you would previously spend creating a story or feed graphic to instead edit a video.

SHARE BEHIND THE SCENES

Not all Reel content has to be high-quality! In fact, we’ve noticed a trend among our own clients that “homemade” Reels often outperform high-resolution clips taken in a studio. Ask your client to send behind-the-scenes clips of their day for you to compile into an IG Reel. Users often love seeing the faces behind a brand, so this form of content is great for fostering a relationship and building trust!

COMPILE PHOTOS TO THE BEAT OF TRENDING AUDIO

If receiving video content in any capacity is a “no” from your client, consider choreographing a “slideshow” of their photos to the beat of trending audio. Whether you’re grouping together photos of the same product in various colors or showcasing your extensive product options overall, we love following SENREVE for this type of inspo!

Remember: selecting a trending audio is key to boosting the discoverability of your Instagram Reel. If a sound you’re looking at doesn’t have many videos, but a significant number of the videos were posted recently and have moderate-to-high engagement (ie a large number of views, likes, and comments), this could be a good indication that the audio has potential for virality.

SHARE QUOTES + MEMES AS VIDEOS

Work smarter not harder on this one. Rather than exporting your usual quote or meme as a PNG, consider sharing that same content as a video (with trending audio, of course)!

Posting a tweet graphic? Layer it on top of an aesthetic video playing in the background. Want to post a meme? You know there’s always an animated GIF for that!

Analyze your current content strategy and identify where you can make EASY shifts to video content with little-to-no effort on your end.

TURN BLOG POSTS INTO INFORMATIVE IG REELS

We recently tuned into a webinar where MKW Creative Co. shared that 20% of your content should be “trendy,” while the remaining 80% should be proprietary brand content (explainers, tutorials, transformations, case studies, etc.) that yields a higher ROI. Repurposing blogs into photo or text-based IG Reels is a great way to provide value and establish credibility!

In need of more IG Reel ideas for clients that don’t have a videographer? We compiled a list of accounts that kill the IG Reels game WITHOUT showing their face. And for more tips, check out our BRB Going Viral: IG Reel + TikTok Bundle or ReelTok Online Course. Enjoy!
