Why Barbie is Doing Better Than You On Instagram

You might be asking yourself, why would a social media agency be making a blog post about Barbie?

Well, it always has been Barbie’s world and were just living in it… but now we wish we were living it. We have been through it all with her from the makeup and breakups with Ken, to the top down Jeep rides for the perfect windblown hair, and how could we forget, the Barbie Dreamhouse- elevator and all.

Now, she has grown up and has become the independent, fashion-forward, business-savvy woman that we all strive to be with 2.1 million followers on Instagram going by the handle @Barbiestyle. From beach days in Malibu with her besties to handling international business affairs in Milan, and of course scheduling in that much needed self-care routine, Barbie uses some of Homemade Social’s favorite tricks in the book when it comes to social media marketing to highlight it all on Instagram. Here is Influencer Barbie and why her Instagram is better than yours.

  1. She Uses The Right Hashtags

Barbie takes a weekender to the Grand Canyon State and soaks up the sun poolside. Her photo puts focus on the mountains, showing off some of AZ’s natural beauty and using hashtags to boost her engagement with local accounts. Of course, she always shares the love and makes sure that her travel companion gets those killer Instagram photos because would friendship be without reposting and tagging each other to gain followers and impressions on the post?

2. She Scores Brand Collabs

Of course, what would an influencer be without collabs? Barbie scores the collab of our dreams working with her friend and designer Jeremy Scott putting in those long hours to create Moschino’s brilliant design for the Met Gala.

3. She Educates Her Audience & Shows Behind-The-Scenes

Barbie keeps up to date on conferences that double as a learning experience and networking event like the GirlBoss Rally. She posts about it including tags and hashtags so that the conference can repost and the attendees of the conference can find your post after. This leads to more people being able to find the brand’s account along with being able to connect to people that are in the same field of work.

4. She “Teases” At Projects She’s Working On

Barbie is jet set to the Big Apple and always lets her followers know when she’s landed and working on the next big thing. In the caption of her post she tags who she is working with and also mentions to look out for “something very special this weekend” on their stories. This keeps followers engaged and excited, leading them to keep checking up on both accounts.

5. She Keeps Her Audience Engaged By Asking Questions

You’ll have to follow in Barbie’s footsteps by using her favorite trick of asking a question in the caption of her photo. Asking a question, especially about up-and-coming topics, engages you followers along with cultivating a space for everyone to come together and share some of their favorites. Plus, it also may prompt your followers to tag their friends, products or companies that are their favorites which will give you more exposure.
