Let me paint a picture for you that might sound familiar. In the fall of 2017, I was newly self-employed and navigating the world of freelance social media management for the first time. I jotted down thoughts like:

  • "I'm worried about money, growth, and staying in business."

  • "I feel like I can't make an impact without burnout."

  • "I want to keep clients on for longer, but I'm afraid they'll say no."

  • "How do I provide my clients more value?"

  • "I'm excited but scared to bring the [team] onto payroll."

Back then, I was plagued by self-doubt and uncertainty. I had years of social media management experience but I had never been taught how to operate a business, communicate with my own clients, or grow a team.

At the same time, I was filled with dreams and aspirations. I'd imagine my ideal client coming to my website and would be filled with excitement. I craved a creative career that offered flexibility, fulfillment, and financial success, but couldn’t imagine at the time how a career in the 24-7 world of social media would allow for that.

A lot has gone down since that season in my life. I've gone from a one-woman show to a team of 10. I've closed out each and every year in business making six-figures while increasing our bottom line. I’ve landed dream clients and press features. And most importantly, I've been able to build my dream life both in and out of the office while working 35 hours a week alongside my amazing team and clients.
